ABOUT THE SITE

A shortlist you can check.

Small Server Finder is an independent project for people choosing a compact home server in the UK. The finder compares included hardware and listed prices; the guides explain what to check for your intended workload.

What our research covers

We use retailer listings, manufacturer documentation and software projects’ own documentation. Research and writing are assisted by AI. We have not physically tested the machines, measured their power consumption or verified every seller’s claim.

Each configuration has its own price, stock and specification review dates. Those dates describe a source check, not a promise that an offer is still available. Where a source is blocked, a tax treatment is unclear or two specifications conflict, we keep that uncertainty visible.

How machines get into the shortlist

We look for useful options across refurbished business PCs and newer low-power machines. This is a small selection, not a survey of the entire market. A listing is not a certification of reliability or software compatibility.

The finder filters by purchase price, included memory and included storage. Results follow the sort you choose. Workload presets set starting requirements; they do not confirm that every matching machine can perform every task in that category.

How to read the cost estimates

Electricity costs use the power, tariff and running hours you enter. The default 15W is an example shared across machines, not measured power data. Purchase totals exclude delivery, upgrades, repairs and any tax that the retailer has not confirmed.

Funding and corrections

The site currently has no advertising, paid placements or affiliate links. Retailers do not pay for their position in the results.

If you spot a problem, send the page and supporting source. We check corrections against the exact CPU and configuration before changing the record.
